Activate!

I laughed a lot today because of a Kara.

I have more to say on this subject, but it's 1:30 and I'm totally exhausted so I'm actually going to listen to my body and go to bed. (To sleep at 5:30, up at 9 today)

In other news, I bought a men's, pearl snap, linen, plaid-printed shirt and it looks totally cute on me.

Androgeny is so hot right now.

You'd never know it was a men's shirt, except now I've told you..

Oh and the buttons are on the wrong side..  Did you know that they put the buttons of men's and women's shirts on different sides? The zippers are switched, too.

This has been your FFD (Fun Fact of the Day)

I have no idea why they do this, but I think we could make up better stories anyway. In fact, you should make up a story of why and post it as a comment.

Cleaning and doing without

I cleaned my entire apartment today. Yay! Laundry is put away,  dishes are done, floors are vacuumed/swept... (I still don't know how to spell vacuumed, because we called it a sweeper when I was growing up.) Tables are wiped down, trash is taken out, bed is even made. Now to just keep it this way until I come home from Christmas...

I always think I should clean my house before I go on vacation so that when I come home it's really nice and feels really relaxing... but I put off packing till the last minute and don't clean and come home to a mess.

Maybe this year things will be different.

Probably not.

How does one not sleep in their bed so as to preserve the "made-ness"  What? Just remake it every morning? You think I have that kinda time just laying around or something!?!

I found Nathan and my pre-marital counseling books today (we each had one to write in). I read through his, and rather enjoyed it. One of the lists was a "who do you think will take care of this chore" thing... and of course he couldn't just say, "me" or "her" because he had to keep contingency plans open, so nearly everything was "both (mainly me)" or "both but Renee is more skilled at this." except for bed-making and the person he wrote down for that chore was, "neither :)"

He was so right. The only time we made our bed was when we put new sheets on it... or when he was so frustrated with the giant knot that I had made the covers because I can somehow manage to twist blankets sideways in my sleep.. and even then it was less "making" and more "straightening."

He also had made brackets in sections of the books commenting that he disagreed with how they worded it and he wouldn't say it like that. Yes, he was arguing with a book... a pre-marital counseling book at that. I laughed.... That's just so classic Nathan, marking up the parts that he doesn't agree with.

Anyway I found the books while cleaning... Whole lot of religious studies books are headed to Good Will or the Salvation Army... I have no need of them and no desire to hold on to them... I have so much that was his, taking up space it no longer needs to take up. When I move out of here it's gonna be crazy.

But that's what has to happen... If the situations were reversed I wouldn't want him hanging on to my crafting supplies or all my knick-nacks.

I was thinking the other day, "How in the world did all of Nathan *and* my clothes fit in this closet?" I seriously don't know. I've taken over his dresser and I still have my dresser and the closet is completely full... just of my clothes... How did we manage when we had all of his clothes (a Rubbermaid tote and 2  huge boxes, I think) PLUS my clothes.

Next time I get married we are gonna have to have a ginormous closet.

I was thinking about it today... and you know how engaged couples are with each other all the time? That's why we get married... cause no one thinks it's odd if you are with your spouse all the time... That's what I miss. Someone who wants to spend all his time with me. Someone who's decided I'm the one person he can't do without.

I want to be not done without.

Kara owes me a dollar.

I started reading a book today, so you will have to forgive me if my blog post is short... I'm rather excited to get back to it...

Today I bought a dress.. I have specific plans for said dress... Mainly, Easter and Nathan's graduation... but I may wear it to church next Sunday, just because I won't be there on Easter (so it's not gonna spoil the Easter surprise), I never wear dresses to church, and it's a new dress so I'm impatient. However, I shall have to figure out my shoe situation before then. The problem with heels is that they aren't usually comfortable... and flats don't look as nice as heels in my humble opinion... but regardless of height, I have to find something that will match/go... I did find eye makeup that will match... I may have gotten slightly addicted to purchasing eye shadow since I lost Nathan... but I think if buying new eyeshadow makes me feel better, then it's probably not that bad of a vice to have. Could be worse... I could be addicted to buying...computers... or...furniture... or... barbecue grills. Cause, seriously, where would I put three bbq grills? That's what I'm saying!

Also a friend of mine may have convinced me that I need to make some sort of hair accessory, to go with my dress... but that isn't gonna be too hard, as she has lots of hair accessory making supplies

I often get paranoid to mention people by name on my blog.... Cause it's the internet... and while I don't mind my name being out there, I know that some people are not the same as me. So I usually don't use their names... you can tell me if it's ok to name drop you... elsewise I'll keep calling you "a friend" (Sorry Kara, I think I've already name dropped you so many times that it can't be taken back.... I could change your name though... to like... Mara or something.) Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, say no more?

By the way, Kara found out what gender her baby is sooooo looong ago and shall not let me announce it on here until she's told lots and lots of people. It's like she thinks it's her baby/news to tell or something... So my blog is being held hostage. By Mara. I think this means that she owes me a dollar, and I'm quite sure that all of you agree, dontcha?

Why do I climb the mountain? Because I'm in love.

Today Nathan had to get a dressing change, so we went to the South side of town. While there we went to the mall as well, cause I had 15 dollars in JC penny gift cards burning a hole in my pocket and when I say 15 dollars what I actually mean is 3 cards with 15 dollars each on them, because my (paternal) Grandma buys them in bulk for her very large family and sends them out for birthdays and anniversaries... only my mom hardly ever shops at JC Penny so I got their anniversary gift card for my birthday (Thanks, Mom!) and then I got one from grandma for my birthday (a week? late) and then I got *another* one for my birthday last week. Apparently Grandma just remembered the being late part and not that she actually mailed me something already, so I got a double portion of Birthday.... and I didn't tell her. This might make me a bad person, but I didn't want to say, "uhhhh Grandma, you already gave me one of these..." that just seems rude... and I *like* JC Penny!

What do you think? Should I go out and slash some car tires cause I'm already an evil person, or do you think it's forgivable? Well, forgivable or not, I'm now the proud owner of 4 new tank camisoles (with lace!!) and a zip up sweater jacket hoodie. That's 5 articles of clothing for 10 dollars a piece plus tax. (Literally- pre tax it was 49.99.) Not as good as 4 for $30, but everything I bought was slightly more than 50% off so I think it's a great deal. Plus I can never find lace-edged tank tops that work for my body type, so this makes me super jazzed. Ya wanna know the problem? While it is September, it is not cold enough out there for my sweater jacket... meaning it's going to have to languish in my closet until that fall chill is in the air... Only I want to wear it now.. Do you think that I can convince Nathan to turn down the air conditioner just so I can wear my new clothes?? I love new clothes! It's finally raining, but it's been so long since I bought my rain boots that I keep forgetting about them. I don't want my sweater to be the new rain boot! (Plus imagine how soggy that would be. ewww.)

I bought a purple tank top... This makes me nervous because people who like the color purple are *very* devoted to it... and if you wear it they think you are a devotee as well. So they come up to you and gush about how much they love that color and isn't it the greatest color and about all the purple clothes they have ever owned and how it's their favorite color in the world and the whole time you are thinking... "I just own it cause I think it looks good on me... I don't even like purple that much." I almost didn't try it on, because I'm so paranoid about these people... but then I did, cause I tried on every color and darn it if it didn't look good on me... so I got it. But if you come up to me and tell me you like my purple tank top don't be surprised if I eye you suspiciously and then sidle away from you.

Also, Katie led me to this gem today.

The funny thing about it is that the source material is just as crazy as the song-- all they had to do was set it to music. Shatner wasn't actually edited or "re-mixed" all that much. How has this man had a career for this long!?! Don't get me wrong I love Captain Kirk.... but Shatner is looney tunes! Alright... I don't think anything can follow that, honestly. So I'll see you tomorrow. Same bat time, same bat channel.
